Tidbits

Doc's_Girl tagged me for 8 random thoughts about me.

(The rules: Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves. Write a post about your own random things. Post these rules. At the end of your blog, tag 8 people and post their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment and tell them they're tagged.)

Only one problem. I don't know 8 people who have time to have some fun. If any of my regular readers would like to have some fun with this and post some random facts about themselves on their blog, please let me know in my comments section. I would love to read it.

Here's mine.

1. I grew up in the late 70's and was really into rock (Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, etc). But, I was a teenager at the turn of the 80's. Damn those teenage years! Somehow I (clearly taken over by something evil) started listening to Culture Club. Yikes! Then came Air Supply. What got into me! Thankfully along came Metallica, who rescued me before I liked Wham!

2. Love. (warning sappy, mushy, gushy info comin') Hubby and I have been married for almost 13 years (despite his spending habit). Many didn't think it would last. For starters he is 5 years younger than me. We started dating when he was 18 (his dad's a lawyer-I sure wasn't going to go to jail-lol) and got married when he was 21. Add to that the stress of having a micropreemie and it's a miracle we are still together. I truly love him. I knew it early on. I can remember one day we were looking at backyard swings. We were sitting on one in a store and I had completely lost track of where I was or how long we were sitting there. It's that kind of peace that I wish everyone could feel. It's what has gotten us through our crazy life. He still tells me, every day, how much he loves me and how beautiful I am, despite my issue (see #3).

3. I miss being thin. I used to model. Tall and thin. I was 110 pounds (5'8") when hubby and I started dating. I'm not that anymore. I will be again one day though (in another life??).

4. I'm a vegetarian. Yep, an overweight vegetarian! (only I could pull this one off) I went to a meat packing plant (was supposed to be a field trip to a farm) on school field trip when I was 10. No more meat for me!

5. I used to be anorexic. 86 pounds (when I was a teenager-wonder if it had anything to do with Boy George-lol-it's all his fault) at my lowest. Hmm... an overweight vegetarian who is an ex anorexic. Any psych blogs out there?

6. I want a tattoo.

7. Suzy Homemaker and I do not come from the same bloodline. My house is not neat (clean but not neat). I hate doing dishes and don't ask me to wash windows. Hubby just finished cleaning our bathtub. (in all fairness-he replaced our brand new toilet with a super toilet and he wanted the whole bathroom to sparkle to show off his work-gotta love those male ego moments).

8. I am fascinated by all things relating to the ghost world. I love the show Ghost Hunters.

I wouldnt have pegged you as a Metalica fan. Interesting. Culture Club I get but Metalica? Hmmmmm. I was a huge Duran Duran fan. I am still proud of it. 2 years ago I saw them in concert.
All the original memebers were there and it was amazing. Even DH liked it. It brought back some wonderful memories of my teenage years!

Hey I was an overweight vegetarian too! You must be doing better at it than I did - I got very anemic and was told to stop, after 8 years.

To this day I don't eat a ton of meats and haven't met a vegetable I don't like.

Duran Duran was very popular when I was younger too. Although I didn't listen to them, I'm sure hearing them would be fun. Oh the memories of being a teenager!

We used to live near an outdoor concert hall. I saw so many bands because friends worked there. It was great as a teenager. I was exposed to so many different kinds of music.

I still like all kinds. Paige loves Josh Groban so that's usually what you can hear in my house now. That's all you will hear in my car. It keeps her calm and that's what matters. Hubby (who is into rock and metal) is quite sick of Josh. hehe Paige is sure she will marry him too! lol I can't wait unitl she is older so we can tease her on her first love. (wait a minute. what happens if she finds out that I used to think Boy George is cute. lol)

Hi Jennifer,

I am always amazed when I have blood work that I'm not anemic. I live on bread and cheese, with the occasional beans and salad thrown in.

When I was pregnant with my son I was diabetic. It was caught very early on. I gave up all breads and was able to keep my sugar under control without meds (until the very end). Now if I only could go back to eating that well, I would be in good shape!

I don’t have a blog but just for fun….

I was in high school in the 70’s so it was KISS, Billy Joel, Van Halen, Styx, Journey. REO Speedwagon. I was in college when MTV was “invented”. My friend called me and told me that we had a new station that was like the radio but with mini-movies that matched the songs. She said it was called MTV but she couldn’t understand why since it was on Channel I. Remember the old cable boxes with the slide for the channels? Like the old flip up address books?

I miss being thin too.

I learned to type on a manual typewriter.

I want a tattoo too. A 4-leaf clover. I’ve wanted one since grad school but “everyone” told me that a professional couldn’t have one. Liars!!

I wish pot was legal..Did I just say that? Fond remembrances of the 70’s.

I love going to a high school football game on a warm autumn evening.

I make approximately 50 jars of strawberry freezer jam every year since it’s the only jam that my one son will eat. We need about a jar a week. June is strawberry month and I’m currently on my last jar.

I should not be allowed to own plants. I kill them. I swear it’s not murder, merely manslaughter due to negligence. There is not premeditation. I try to keep them healthy, really I do. Maybe if they were autistic, I’d do better.

we have a few vegetarians in my husband's family. only one is skinny and that would be one of my children....everyone knows i don't feed these skinny children. she eats very well and is not anemic either. she gave up meat when she was 8 years old and it was approved by our pedi, a vegetarian himself.
great random list!
